Presentation Of New Projects For Prevention And Decentralized Management Of Biowaste In Barcelona

Last Wednesday, 19th of July, the Waste Agency of Catalonia (ARC) presented in Barcelona tree new projects for biowaste: DECISIVE2020, Revolta and ECOWaste4Food.

Josep Maria Tost, director for the ARC, opened the event emphasizing  the importance of organic waste management. He also highlighted the desire of the ARC to improve the current collection and management figures in a close future. Catalan actors collaborating in each project where invited to take part in the presentations: the Autonomous University of Barcelona, ​​the ENT Foundation and Aeris for the DECISIVE project and the Tarpuna cooperative in the case of the Revolta Project.

DECISIVE

The DECISIVE project (DECentralized Management Scheme for Innovative Valorization of urban biowaste) is a research and innovation project financed by the European Union by the Horizon 2020 program. The project aims to develop a decentralized biowaste management system, locally producing energy and bioproducts to be used in urban or peri-urban agriculture.

Revolta

The Revolta Project, promoted by the Waste Agency of Catalonia and the Tarpuna cooperative, with the collaboration of the “El Ginebró” School in Llinars del Vallès, is a project on Circular Bioeconomy.

ECOWaste 4 Food

The Waste Agency of Catalonia, together with six other European partners, participates too in the ECOWASTE4 FOOD project, a project funded by the Interreg program, which aims to support territorial authorities to reduce food waste throughout the food chain, supporting eco-innovations based on regional and local policies as part of a global strategy for food security.

The Waste Agency of Catalonia (ARC)

The Catalan Waste Agency (ARC) is a public company of the Department of Territory and Sustainability of the Government of Catalonia that is competent concerning waste generated in Catalonia and the waste managed in its territorial area, industrial, municipal, health care, or agricultural waste.
