The Catalan Waste Agency’s participation in the Waste Management in the Circular Economy 2017 conference in Berlin back in November 27 -28 was marked by a comprehensive presentation of DECISIVE project’s objectives and scope, as well as recent achievements.

This European Conference aimed at offering a platform for public authorities and waste management companies to exchange on the different approaches and possible ways for implementing the revised legislation of the Circular Economy Package and discuss current implementation hurdles and improve the collection and reduction of waste in your own organisation. Leading experts from national authorities, international and national associations and waste companies shared their ideas, existing practices and recommendations on legal, economical and infrastructural instruments for a successful transition to a Circular Economy.

The Catalan Waste Agency  (ARC) provided a presentation on “Separate Collection and Biological Treatment of Food and Biowaste in a Circular Economy” in which the current biowaste management was explained and as well as the Waste Agency’s approach towards more decentralised management systems. In this context the DECISIVE project was presented, explaining in several slides the overall objective and scope of the project, the consortium and the two tier approach of concepts and tools development and consolidation and innovative demonstration.

The event itself gathered nearly 40 attendees, mainly representatives of the EU, national and regional authorities, as well as EPR organisations, consultants and waste management enterprises.
